Profile

Jyotsna Shrivastava, Founder / Director of Teach Me the Way I Learn, strongly believes that the aim of true education is preparing the future generation for an inclusive society where they learn to appreciate and accommodate Special Needs person respecting their individuality.

She has over twenty eight years of experience in working with regular as well as differently abled students pan India. Her experience spans over assessment; planning Individualized Educational Plan (IEP's); Individualized Transitional Plans; organizing and managing programs; teaching; behavioural management of students with different abilities and Learning Disabled and setting up Special Education Needs (SEN) department for schools. She has worked as a diagnostician, special educator and learning centre head across various institutes and school in India. These include Navy Public Schools at Arakkonam (TN) and Visakhapatnam (AP), Sankalp in Mumbai, Spastic Society of India in Mumbai, Vasant Valley School ,Delhi, Pathways School, Gurgaon and Consultant – (Diagnostician & Educational Therapist) for Dihika Living Wisdom School, Gurgaon. As a freelance special educator in Goa, She has also worked with "Juvenile Delinquent" Jail at Indore, to conduct Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) classes.

She has imparted learning following a parallel curriculum to Autistic, Developmentally Delayed and Slow Learners and also regularly taught Learning Disabled, at CBSE, NIOS (National Institute for Open School) and IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum. Provided remedial intervention to students and monitored their performance, management in integrated classes. Trained and coordinated with Regular as well as Special Needs Staff working with Special Needs students; Sensitized Teachers, Parents and students about Special Needs children.

Her work has actively involved her in extra-curricular activities of Special Olympics, Therapeutic Theatre and Integrated Classes with regular school. She was instrumental in opening 'SANKALP'-school for Navy children with different abilities, Mumbai and setting up the SEN (Special Education Needs) department in Pathways School, Gurgaon, Dihika Living Wisdom School, Gurgaon and has been Consultant to a prestigious institution for its school pan India and International.

She has made presentations in numerous National and International fora; has been part of Teacher Training Programme for Pathways, Amity School, Shri Educare, and Kendriya Vidhyalaya School; written awareness articles for magazines. Her article – ‘ICT Integrated Education in Children with Special Needs’, was published in the Souvenir of ICT Culture in Education- September 2012

In addition, she has been an active sports person and has been awarded Best Cadet for NCC and Best Worker for NSS.
